(a) State and explain four factors that a teacher should consider in selecting a teaching method. [4 marks] (b) With the use of illustrative examples, distinguish between (i) inductive and deductive approaches to teaching. [3 marks] (ii) formal and informal education [3 marks] (c) Explain four advantages of applying a systems approach to teaching. [8 marks] (d) Briefly discuss the role of motivation in the teaching/learning process. [12 marks]
2. (a) Discuss four problems which academically gifted learners are likely to pose to their teachers. [8 marks] (b) Explain how you would provide for the intellectual growth of slow learners in your class. [6 marks] (c) Describe four factors which make it difficult for the teacher to provide for individual needs of each learner in the class. [6 marks]
3. (a) State two sources from which the scheme of work is derived and give two reasons why each of the sources is important for the teacher during scheming. [8 marks] (b) A good lesson plan should reflect a systems approach to teaching and learning. Describe the various ways through which a teacher can achieve this. [12 marks]
4. (a) Distinguish between achievement tests and evaluation tests. [4 marks] (b) Construct two examples of test items for each of the following category of objectives tests. (i) Completion (ii) True False (iii) Matching (iv) Multiple choice [8 marks]
5. (a) Identify four linguistic related factors that may affect the effectiveness of the teaching/learning process. [4 marks] (b) Using appropriate examples, explain clearly how each of these factors call adversely affect the teaching/learning process. [16 marks] |
