Law catches up with Jaguar con promoters

For months now, singer Jaguar has been complaining that con artistes posing as promoters were using his name to extort money from fans. Last week the long arm of the law finally caught up with the culprits.

This time round the said 'promoters' had hyped a show claiming Jaguar was set to perform at Umbrella Club in Lower Kabete. The Saturday night show, which was organised by Othaya Promoters, did not take off as advertised and the fans were livid. “I was shocked when people started calling me asking why I was not coming on stage.

Since I was in Meru I sent policemen to arrest the organisers,” Jaguar told Word Is. “This is not the first time they have done this. They keep changing names while conning fans in different parts of the country especially in Western province. Sometimes they call themselves Cash Money Entertainment but this time they called themselves Othaya Promoters,” he added.

According to Jaguar's manager Emmanuel Banda, some of them who were arrested over the bungled event were underage. They were later released on Sunday morning. “I was shocked when I went to the police station only to find that some were 17 and could not even afford to bail themselves out,” Banda told Word Is.
