Stecia to Launch Equaliser
Stecia Mayanja has been in the music circles for some time now, starting with her gigs at Splash band that used to play at African village on Buganda road, in 2004.
"I was in Splash with Karim Ssaava and Charles Ssekyewa for some months and then I joined Eagles Production the same year," recalls Stecia.
Yet her launch this year is the first of her career and as a part of Eagles Production. Mayanja is launching her sixth album, Equaliser, at New Club Obbligato this Friday, with hits such as Wabanswaliza, Mwami Wange, Olinnoonya, Kuuma Figure, Kawompo and Equaliser. She will continue to Afronica bar Kasangati on Saturday and hotel Explorer Zana on Sunday.
Her song Equaliser, has particularly enjoyed massive airplay due to its catchy lyrics that hit back at cynics. Her fans will also see her perform their favourite hits, such as Kabalagala and Kantinti, which was an anthem in Kyadondo East parliamentary elections. The bootylicious Stecia says her show is indeed going to be a year opener with Eagles Production, Afrigo band, Bobi Wine, Mariam Ndagire, Haruna Mubiru, Angela Kalule and Judith Babirye accompanying her.
Stecia, who is also into movie making after her maiden movie Stabbed in 2009, is married to Busuulwa Kitaka and is a presenter of Kulya Cash on Bukedde TV.
"In Kabalagala, I am singing about my love for Kitaka and in Equaliser it's just an experience from friends who have not yet gotten married and they are considered rejects," she explains.
Stecia says she has taken this long without launching because she felt she had not done enough to warrant a launch and she does not believe in launching one song.
"On Friday, I will do everything I have been storing up all this time and it is going to be a blast," she said.
The Obbligato show will cost Shs 30,000 VIP and Shs 20,000 ordinary, while the weekend shows will go for Shs 10,000 VIP and Shs 5,000 ordinary.
