MOG disappoints fans in Dubai, blames promoter
Gospel group MOG disappointed their fans in Dubai over the Easter weekend after refusing to perform as scheduled. MOG blamed it on the organiser, Hassan Mwadzaya of Waziri Clothing, whom they claim acted ‘edgy’ with the payment. “Hassan had only paid 50 per cent of the money and had promised to give us the rest on arrival at the airport but he did not live up to his word,” Tony of MOG told Word Is. “He told us to go to the hotel promising to give us the money but he disappeared after dinner only to show up the next day at 2pm. It was at this point that we realised that he was playing games and when we confronted him again he gave us three quarter of the remaining 50 per cent,” he added.
However, Hassan claims that the contract stated 50 per cent of the payment was to be done before the show and the rest after the show. “We had come to an amicable conclusion from both parties until half an hour to the performance when MOG bluntly stated that they wouldn't be appearing on stage without their remaining balance that was to be paid after the performance based on the agreement on the contract. This was happening as DJ Izrael had already hyped up the crowd, starting his set from 11pm onwards to a fully charged crowd who had attended the show,” Hassan stated in an email sent to Word Is.
He also claims that MOG incited the crowd to ask for refund, something that the group has dismissed “Fan’s were disappointed and asked for money back. He’s bitter because we did not fall for his trick. He thought we would be excited because we went to Dubai but we are all about business,” said Tony.
